报告人简介:

Dr. Xu is a professor at the School of Aeronautics in Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU). She received B.Eng., M.Eng. and Ph.D degrees from NPU. She served on the Post-doctor positions of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU, 1999-2001) and Tokyo University of Science (TUS, 2003-2005). As a visiting scientist, she worked in the Department of Engineering Science and Mechanics in Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (2009)

Professor Fei Xu’s research area include (i)Development of parallel SPH method and its application in engineering (ii) Experimental and numerical analysis of material behavior and structure response under dynamic loading (iii) Joint and repair design of classical CFRP composite material (iv) Structure responses and water splash under Fluid-Structure Interaction

She is now the executive dean of NPU Institute for Computational Mechanics and Its Applications (NPUiCMA), which was established in the year 2012. She was awarded the Youth Science and Technology Award of Chinese Aviation Society in 2013 and the National award of New Century Excellent Talents in University in 2008. She is the Member of Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied mechanics; Member of a council of Aviation Society in Shaanxi province and Guest committee member of Chinese computational mechanics. She had published more than 130 journal and refereed conference papers, got a patent for Hopkinson bar technique and two prizes of the Science and Technology of National Defense and the Aviation industry.

报告简介:

The airworthiness regulations of civil aircraft require full-scale aircraft splash test to check the safety of engine during the aircraft taking-off and landing on wet runway. The splash water generated by the aircraft tire might lead to the compressor surge or even flameout if it entering aircraft engines. The related researches of test and simulation on this kind of problem are still inadequate nowadays. In this presentation, firstly the recent research status and the improvement on water splash and engine water ingestion are reviewed. Then the behavior of water splash is described by the coupled smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) and finite element (FEM) method, which is validated by some experiments. The relations between spray angles of the water splash vs the different tires, rolling velocities etc. are given. In order to avoid the engine water ingestion, controlling the water splash by using the chine tire is possible. The deflecting mechanisms of the chine are investigated and an optimized shape of the chine would be possible to some extent. In addition, the experimental platform to produce water splash of the aircraft tire at dropping state is established to verify our simulation model. After these kinds of researches, we realize that to predict the aircraft engine water ingestion well is still an open question.
